Which Type Of Refractory Bricks Are Used In Coke Oven Wall?

The following types of refractory bricks are primarily used in coke oven walls, depending on the location of the wall and operating conditions:

1. Silica Brick – Main Material
✅ Main Features:
SiO₂ content ≥ 93%

High refractoriness under load (>1650°C)

Good high-temperature volume stability

Suitable for long-term use in high-temperature, constant-temperature environments (such as coke ovens)

✅ Applications:
Carbonization chamber walls

Combustion chamber walls

Furnace roof

Regenerator checker bricks

2. Fireclay Brick
✅ Features:
Al₂O₃ content 30–45%

Low cost, good thermal stability

Superior thermal shock resistance compared to silica bricks

✅ Applications:
Furnace wall lower foundation

Furnace door, furnace frame periphery

Furnace peripheral auxiliary structures

3. High Alumina Brick
✅ Features:
Al₂O₃ ≥ 48%

Stronger corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance

High strength

✅ Applications:
Areas subject to mechanical impact or chemical attack

Special areas such as furnace doors and flue openings

4. Lightweight Insulating Bricks/Ceramic Fiber Products (for Insulation)
✅ Applications:
Thermal insulation of coke oven exterior walls

Reducing heat loss and improving thermal efficiency
