Reasons and Advantages of Andalusite Bricks’ High-Temperature Resistance to 1700℃

Andalusite bricks are high-performance refractory bricks widely used in high-temperature industries such as metallurgy, glass, and ceramics due to their excellent high-temperature resistance. Their temperature resistance can reach 1700℃, mainly due to the material’s chemical composition, crystal structure, and advanced firing process.

Firstly, from a chemical composition perspective, andalusite bricks are rich in a high proportion of alumina (Al₂O₃) and silicon dioxide (SiO₂). Alumina has an extremely high melting point (approximately 2050℃) and remains stable and does not soften at high temperatures; silicon forms a robust aluminosilicate network structure within the brick, improving overall thermal stability and thermal shock resistance. This combination allows andalusite bricks to maintain strength and integrity at high temperatures.

Secondly, the crystal structure of andalusite bricks is key to their high-temperature resistance. Its three-dimensional lattice framework is resistant to collapse or transformation at high temperatures. Furthermore, after high-temperature sintering, a dense microcrystalline structure forms inside the brick, resulting in low porosity and uniform heating, further enhancing its temperature resistance.

Moreover, andalusite bricks are manufactured using advanced firing processes. Precise control of calcination temperature, holding time, and sintering environment ensures full crystallization of the internal grains, reducing residual stress and resulting in a dense and uniform brick body capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1700℃ for extended periods without softening or cracking.

Furthermore, andalusite bricks exhibit excellent thermal shock resistance. Their crystalline structure and microscopic density absorb thermal stress, reducing the risk of cracking and ensuring stable use in high-temperature furnaces, kilns, and glass and ceramic production lines.

In summary, the ability of andalusite bricks to withstand temperatures up to 1700℃ is a result of the combination of high alumina content, stable crystal structure, and advanced firing processes. With its superior high-temperature resistance and thermal shock resistance, andalusite bricks have become an indispensable choice for refractory bricks in various high-temperature industrial production processes.
