En utilisant comme mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res de l'oxyde de magn\u00e9sium basique \u00e0 point de fusion \u00e9lev\u00e9 (point de fusion 2800\u00b0C) et du carbone \u00e0 point de fusion \u00e9lev\u00e9 qui est difficile \u00e0 infiltrer par le laitier, divers additifs non oxydants sont ajout\u00e9s.
